Communicative Approach

We pride ourselves on providing an English-speaking landscape where students can be confident in learning and using English.  As a result our courses and teachers utilise a technique known as the “Communicative Approach”.

This system was developed in the 1970s and concentrates on developing students’ communication skills by making use of real-life situations, for example using authentic materials to convey the subject matter e.g. integrating current newspaper or magazine articles, videos, weather reports etc into lessons.  The classroom is centred on the learner, whereas the teacher is the facilitator. Students are encouraged to be more involved in the learning process.

This technique would provide opportunities for our students to communicate in English more effectively and fluently.  The English that is learnt is geared to provide them with more relevant knowledge and ideas which is imperative to today’s society.
