Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Express themselves confidently and clearly in an English drama setting
  • Vary their language expressions to suit appropriate roles
  • Read aloud play scripts with clear articulation and effective voice projection
  • Express emotions with the use of facial expressions, voice and actions
  • Apply listening and speaking abilities in daily conversations, presentations and public speaking
  • Analyse the plot structure of a play and use guided steps to write short dialogues and scripts

Features

This series features a wide range of drama games including miming, improvisation exercises, role plays and teamwork games. Students also gain dramatic insights by watching demonstrations and performances. After each unit, a vocabulary list is presented, to allow students to revise the language used in the previous activities. The script terminology sections cover the technical terms required for drama. The short script A Shadow With a Life of Its Own has been included for students to use in their acting practices. Guided writing exercises give students the opportunity to write their own pieces to perform. English Drama Level 7 corresponds to the B1 level of the Common European Framework of reference for Languages (CEFR).
